The Z machine is a type 2 sleep study, which is an accepted sleep study for pilots. The NightOwl and the SleepImpage Rings are type 4 home sleep studies. All are FDA-cleared for Home Sleep Testing. The studies can be done with the Ares 610 unit, as well, with 9-channel data gathering, the Z Machine, or the SleepImage Home Sleep Study equipment. Only the Z Machine should be selected for an airline pilot or ship captain sleep study. Truck drivers do not have to use a Z Machine unless they want a more comprehensive study.

These studies are shipped to you. When the prescribed number of nights of sleep is recorded (usually 2 nights), a return label is included to send it back. It is then machine-scored and interpreted with a machine algorithm scoring and a sleep specialist diagnosis. The test report will not be recorded to an insurance carrier or appear in your medical record without your permission.

After completing a qualifying online health screening questionnaire, you will be shipped the home sleep study kit. They are superb diagnostic instruments. After completing the home sleep study, you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Downs or Dr. Zelk.
The doctors will ask you about your signs and symptoms of sleep difficulties to help provide advice and suggestions, and about which health care professional might be best for you to visit. They will also help you interpret the medical diagnosis in your online home sleep study written report, so you can better understand the report's recommendations. If you need a prescription for care, they will help you decide which direction you may wish to pursue to get that done.
Patients who purchase this service will not own this ring, the NightOwl, the Z Machine, or the Ares Home Sleep study, but will instead schedule a sleep study with it. The fee for this item is for the interpretation, shipping, and the company’s fees for machine scoring. When you receive it in the mail, you will wear it as instructed and return it to Online Home Sleep Study, Watermark, or the Z Machine owners for interpretation and diagnosis. By ordering this device, you understand and agree to return it in good working order, free of damage, and if it is not, an additional fee of $660 for the ring or $3500.00 for the Ares or Z Machine will be required of you. The NightOwl, the ring, the Z Machine, or the Ares must be returned within 3 weeks of the date of the initial order of this study.
This item DOES include a treatment PRESCRIPTION if you requested a Z Machine Study or an Ares Study. If you do not want a prescription and only want an interpretation done by our sleep specialists, then there is an option to opt out of the prescription on the Z machine order. If you do that, we will issue a $80 partial refund.
