What We Do
Online Home Sleep Testing & The Doctor Sleep Show
This website has evolved to serve a dual purpose. The Doctor Sleep Show on Champions' TV promotes my new book, Beautiful Faces: A Guide to Beautiful Faces and Healthy Airways.
What if we could raise our children to reach their genetic potential — growing into the best versions of themselves?
What if we could mitigate the negative modern epigenetic factors that reduce blood oxygen levels, degrade facial development and beauty, and contribute to chronic disease?
What if much of this could be achieved with minimal reliance on plastic surgery, Botox, collagen fillers, pharmaceuticals, cosmetic products, or rigid self-discipline programs?
Instead, could we embrace enjoyable, inspiring, and natural solutions that most people would readily adopt? And what if, in doing so, we could reduce national healthcare expenditures by as much as 50% while improving the quality of care?
Thank you for visiting our online sleep apnea testing order site. Below is important information to review before purchasing your medical home sleep test kit and professional interpretation services.
Purpose of This Site
This site emphasizes sleep testing and diagnosis — the critical first step in identifying airway issues and many chronic diseases.
Historically, sophisticated sleep testing was performed in hospitals or sleep diagnostic centers and was highly regulated by insurance carriers and medical and dental boards. These restrictions centered on:
Quality of care
Costs to insurance carriers
Scope of practice and professional qualifications
Like many services once available only by prescription or through specialized labs, home sleep testing has evolved. With large-volume, direct-to-consumer availability, costs have decreased significantly.
When services become direct-to-consumer or mail-order, insurance coverage is often reduced or eliminated.
This home sleep test is not covered by insurance, which allows us to offer it at a substantially lower cost. In many cases, the price is lower than typical insurance deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. It also offers greater privacy than clinic-based testing.
The Shift Toward Direct Access Care
We have seen this pattern before:
Prescription medications are becoming available over the counter
Mail-order colon cancer screening tests
At-home teeth whitening products
Telemedicine consultations
Access to care and affordability are critical national issues.
There are over 80 million people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) who do not know they have it. Most people snore, which also impacts the health of their sleep partners. Only about 20% are diagnosed.
Of those diagnosed and prescribed CPAP or oral appliances, many are unable to tolerate treatment and remain at high risk for:
Stroke
Heart disease
Weight gain
High blood pressure
Diabetes
Motor vehicle accidents due to daytime sleepiness
ADHD misdiagnosis is associated with the same hyperactivity in children.
The cost of these diseases far exceeds the cost of properly diagnosing and treating sleep apnea.
Many CPAP users have not had follow-up testing to determine whether their therapy remains effective.
The most compelling reason to offer this test directly to the public is simple:
Undiagnosed sleep apnea is a massive and extremely expensive public health issue if not treated.
Types of Sleep Testing
There are over 100 identified sleep disorders.
Hospital-based sleep studies, called polysomnograms (PSG), are required for:
Complex sleep disorders
Severe sleep apnea
Conditions beyond obstructive sleep apnea
PSGs are more comprehensive.
However, the majority of sleep apnea cases are obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Many medical sleep labs now use Home Sleep Tests (HSTs) for appropriate patients because they allow testing in the comfort and familiarity of home.
Our Home Sleep Test (HST)
Our HST:
Is interpreted by a Board-certified MD, DO, or credentialed Sleep Medicine Nurse Practitioner
Provides diagnosis and treatment recommendations
Can identify no sleep apnea, mild-to-moderate OSA, or need for further evaluation
Possible outcomes include:
No sleep apnea
Mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
Recommendation for follow-up with your primary care physician
Referral for in-lab polysomnography (PSG)
Repeat HST if data collection was incomplete
After Diagnosis
After receiving your results, you may:
Share them with your primary care physician
Share them with your dentist or other healthcare provider
Use them to inform your medical record
In some states or under certain insurance plans, specific providers may not be allowed to order these tests. In such cases, you may purchase the test directly and bring the results to your provider.
In some situations, the results can be used to obtain insurance coverage for sleep apnea treatment.
Important Insurance Information
This test is generally not covered by insurance.
Some insurers — including Medicare — require:
A face-to-face visit with your primary care provider
A formal order or letter of medical necessity (LMN)
If that applies, you may:
Use your results to obtain a prescription for another sleep test
Have that test, then be covered by Medicare or your insurer
Then receive covered treatment
If you have an HSA or health savings plan:
Pay with your credit card
Submit the receipt for reimbursement
Confirm eligibility with your plan
For Dentists & Healthcare Providers
Dentists and healthcare professionals may:
Complete the bulk order form
Contact us for bulk pricing
Request interpretation-only services if you already perform HSTs
Obtain letters of medical necessity
